runespoor: in the background, dick doing a stand-up while in the foreground Babs faces the reader, frowning, eyes narrowed. (babs/dick otpotpotp)
Title: Neither Fate Nor Fortune [on the AO3]
Characters: Barbara (Jason, Bruce, Jim; Bruce/Jason)
Rating: PG-13
Series: Bring on the Night
Warnings: character death, ableism, violence, depression, offscreen underage, and all the content warning that comes with only mildly sanitized vampirism.
Summary: Barbara becomes Oracle, and Gotham's dead Robin is a vampire.

Canon timeline: I'm going with the idea that The Killing Joke takes place some months before Death in the Family. I'm playing loose with the chronology of some of the post-Death in the Family pre-No Man's Land storylines because of reasons.
Inspiration: I made canon soup from sources as diverse as Gotham Knights #43-44-45, Batman: Turning Points #3, Batman Chronicles #5 (Oracle Year One: Born of Hope), the DCAU, the Elseworlds Thrillkiller and Supergirl & Batgirl (spoilers for the latter two), Batman #424, and Gotham Central. I may be forgetting some.

Thank you to Discowing for betaing and cheerleading, to [personal profile] salinea for bearing my regular whining, and to [personal profile] moetushie whose remix of the first fic made me want to go on.

written for the [ profile] dcu_bang 2012, this fic is accompanied by a fanmix made by [ profile] ecto_gammat whose link is pending due to the hurricane.

In Greek mythology, the bearer of bad news has no name. )
runespoor: an extreme close-up of jason's maskless, emotionally open face. (oh jay | took me away from you)
Title: disaster in the making
Pairing: Bruce/Jason
Rating: PG-13
Summary: Everyone can see it.
Notes: Takes place when Jason is Robin. self indulgent outsider pov + identity porn.

The girls let the kid hang out. He's not there very often, and they don't target the same customers. )
runespoor: an extreme close-up of jason's maskless, emotionally open face. (oh jay | took me away from you)
Title: in the business of misery
Pairing: Bruce/Jason
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: underage. I think.
Summary: this is thinking it through.
Notes: a softer world: There should be a word for a threat that is also a promise. Because that is what I want you to hold me down and do. There’s this one line I don’t promise I won’t use again, because I’ve been waiting for an opportunity to put it somewhere for two years, and I’m not sure this is the best possible place.

In the kingdom of bad ideas this one is probably heir to the throne. )
runespoor: an extreme close-up of jason's maskless, emotionally open face. (oh jay | took me away from you)
Title: Tomorrow For Today
Pairing: Bruce/Jason
Rating: NC-17
Warnings: blood, underage, descriptions of violence, character death, possible dub-con, disturbing content? (that's a very wholesome story I just wrote right there.)
Summary: emotionally crippled billionaire seeks dead sidekick to make him whole again, and succeeds. (Basically, Bruce had a convenient vial of vampire blood to inject into Jason's veins when Jason died of crowbar. It failed, until three days after the funeral Jason crawls out of the grave and stumbled to Wayne Manor.) (italics in the sentence also a quote from Zeen.)

Notes: [personal profile] moetushie requested VAMPIRES at the porn battle. I pillaged your scenario, dear. Hope you like?
Canon notes: Garzonas was the son of a diplomat who walked after raping and abusing his girlfriend, who killed herself when she learned he wasn't convicted. In a fury, Jason went to confront Garzonas, and-- the confrontation ended with Garzonas falling to his death. The question's never been answered whether Jason pushed him or, like Jason told Batman when he arrived, “I guess I spooked him. He fell.” And after that, Jason wasn't benched as Robin.

“Bruce. Bruce, what did you *do*?” )
runespoor: an extreme close-up of jason's maskless, emotionally open face. (oh jay | took me away from you)
Title: Breaking Pedestals
Pairing: Tim/Jason
Rating: NC-17
Summary: Tim can't reconcile the boy from the Case and the one who broke into Titans' Tower.
Notes: porn battle, prompt Tim/Jason, The Case.

The first time Tim meets Jason, in Titans Tower shortly after Jason's returned, it's like a dream hopped up on Scarecrow fumes. )
runespoor: an extreme close-up of jason's maskless, emotionally open face. (oh jay | took me away from you)
Title: Thanks in parentheses
Pairing: Bruce/Jason
Rating: R
Warning: underage prostitution
Summary: the system called reciprocity. hookerfic and identity porn.

Id is good for the soul. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it. )
Title: For I have sinned
Pairing: Bruce/Jason
Rating: PG-13
Warning: mention of past Batman/Robin stuff that some readers may find disturbing.
Summary: Emotionally fraught conversations only happen, like love, when Bruce falls into them, unavoidably.
Notes: for [ profile] moetushie’s prompt “DCU, Jason Todd/Bruce Wayne, we are the sons of no one”.

Red Hood's tinny laugh rings in his ear, courtesy of the earpiece Jason made sure to leave behind. )
Title: Those things don't just fade away
Characters: Jason, Alfred (Steph)
Rating: PG
Summary: "Fuck the tea, there's a ghost in your kitchen."
Notes: Title and inspiration from “The Delusions of Alfred Pennyworth” (helpful scans here), again. AU around Under the Hood, AU of War Games (Steph died).

Alfred barely pauses at Jason's cursing. )
Title: Heroes don't do it for the thanks
Characters/Pairing: Jason
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: underage prostitution, violence, subtext that some readers may find disturbing.
Summary: Five times someone appreciated Jason and one time that someone actually told him..
Notes: Practically longer than the fic. For [ profile] comment_fic. Inspiration for 5 from [ profile] katarik; references Outsiders #44-45.

Title: Advancement Strategies
Characters/Pairing: Helena, Jason (mentions Bruce/Jason as well as various other Bat-issues pairings.)
Rating: PG
Summary: “So what did you do to get welcomed in?”
Notes: Whatboot cracky futurefic.

...I slept with Nightwing, once. )
Title: Something sweet and something strong
Pairing: Bruce/Jason
Rating: NC-17
Summary: Jason has none of Bruce's hang-ups.
Notes: time setting? Oh, the happy future that never was. You know, the one where everything is exactly like preboot continuity except no-one's going through too horrible a crisis and Jason's back in the Batfamily and living in Gotham. Title from the Sounds' Rock'n roll.

you know I like it loud / you should know me by now )
Title: Feel so untouched
Pairing: Bruce/Jason
Rating: R
Summary: The best part is the fighting.
Notes: Takes place during UtH. Title from the Veronicas' Untouched, which is a very Bruce/Jason song; I'm not remotely kidding when I call this a PWP without sex.

a PWP without sex. )
Title: It could be worse
Characters: Jason (Babs, Helena, Slade)
Rating: PG-13
Summary: Five times Jason was mentored by another costumed crimefighter, and one time it wasn't a crimefighter.
Notes: For [ profile] au_bingo, theme 'Alternate History: Personal life of a character changed'. Also for the [ profile] comment_fic prompt, Five times a different superhero took in/adopted Jason Todd. Heavily skewed toward the Gotham crew and the Bat-connections, but not so much that I've written the fic where Steph's mom takes Jason in.

Also: I'm sure there are stories that explain why and how Bruce is a failure. Those aren't these stories. I didn't intend this as a compare and contrast, but as 'what-ifs?' that someone I hope will find enjoyable.

I'm thinking about the tragic endings all these stories could have. )
Title: You want more and you want it fast
Pairing: Jason/Tim
Rating: NC-17
Warnings: References to underage prostitution and child abuse.
Summary: In which Jason dons a classic Batgirl costume for sexy reasons.
Notes: Current-ish. Terrific Table of Robins, Jason to Tim; [ profile] dc_kink, “Tim/Jason, Jason begging for it”; [ profile] hc_bingo, theme 'hookers'. Title from Bowie's 'Rebel Rebel'.

Entering Tim's apartment the normal way takes less time than breaking into it, and that's the best Jason can say about this approach. )
Title: (Never Did) Run Smooth
Characters: Dick, Jason
Rating: G
Summary: It's not just about the insecurities.
Notes: Terrific Table of Robins, Dick to Jason. Very much not Dick/Jason, other pairings implied.

“Oh, I know he loves me,” Jason says softly. He's holding his gun loosely enough that Dick could make it jump out of his hand with one batarang. He's looking at the ground, too; not at Dick anymore.

Well then, Dick doesn't say. He can't keep it out of his body language, and it's enough of an obvious question that it wouldn't change anything if he did. In this case the silence speaks for him.

“How are you and Barbara these days?” Jason asks at the ground.

All Dick can do is watch Jason stare at the floor, looking lost in a body too big for him, and wish that he could tell the kid that sometimes love is enough.
Title: Venn Diagram
Fandom: DC
Pairings: non-graphic Batfamily identity-porn issues aided by Deathstroke.
Rating: R
Summary: Slade has been a witness of the push and pull between Batman and his partners since the beginning.
Notes: I've been trying to write this fic, or something like it, for a year and a half. I've come to realize that I'll only manage to write another version if I post this one first.

Takes place during the nebulous before-Bruce's-death that includes such fun as Nightwing One Year Later, Cass being an evil drugged-up murderer, and Rose in the Titans. Title from the Nightwing #80-#82 arc.

With the first, it could have been a coincidence. )
Title: Five Times: Boy or Girl Wonder
Characters/Pairing: Dick, Jason, Tim, Steph, Damian, Bruce, Babs, Cass, the cast of Young Justice
Rating: PG-13
Summary: In which Dick is suddenly a girl, Jay has always been, Robin is trans, Steve woke up to find his dick missing, and Regan wants to be like her mother. Five AUs.
Notes: For [ profile] au_bingo, theme 'Other: Genderbent'. I promise one day I'll be able to write a fic which contains both male and female characters that isn't entirely about the female characters, god I promise even if I have to spend the next sixty years of my life fighting my gender issues for every word. Also: I never imagined writing genderbend could be so fun. I hope you like reading this as much as I loved writing it. Crit of all kinds welcome.

I'm a girl! In Robin's costume! )
Title: Sweet as the night is long
Fandom: DC
Pairing: Bruce/Jason
Rating: NC-17. Content some readers may find disturbing.
Summary: It's been a good night.
Notes: the request on the kink meme was for Bruce/Jason. Answering it... seemed like a good idea at the time.

Wherever they go Jason acts the same. )

[DC] Scans

Jun. 20th, 2009 02:12 pm
Posting the links to the scans I posted over at scans_daily in the past two weeks.

One Perfect Moment
Last week was the One Perfect Moment week. Basically, post a moment that you defines and celebrates a character or a relationship, the longest recommended length of the 'moment' being two pages. There were 166 posts in all, many of which being absolutely wonderful, so if you've got a free afternoon I encourage you to give it a look. When I have more time I think I'll do a full post of every perfect moment by character.

My moments tended to be a little controversial, I think.

[Batgirl #50] Cass: This.

[JLA #65] Bruce: What makes a good father.

[Batman #650] Jason: And doing it because--

[Superman/Batman #7] The Bats: Two words on trust.

[No Man's Land #3] Cass: Establishing Character Moment.

Non DC
I was going to post more Franco-Belgian comics, but then I tore my hair out trying to find Perfect Moments and then I wept tears of blood and disillusionment when I found out many comics haven't been translated into English.

Asterix and Obelix: Those Gauls are crazy BFF!

Comment scans
I've also posted some pages in comments, when I deemed they were appropriate.

[BoP #90] Bruce is more than the Well Done Son Guy. (the narrative is done by Black Canary.)

[Gotham Knights #45] Cass is one of Bruce's kids.
This scan will make a lot of lovely sense if you read this post by [ profile] lipsofpoison, running from Gotham Knights #42 to Gotham Knights #45 and covering the arc where Jason's death is being investigated by a social worker new to Gotham.

[Nightwing: Year One] Jason got tied up by Bruce. Yeah, those scans.
