There were tear tracks down Ino's mulish face; her arms were clenched around the orange kitten, who let out a pitiful mewling sound as if he felt the little girl's distress.
Chouji shifted, a little uncomfortably.
"I'll take him," he suggested. "You'll be able to see him anytime you want. I'm sure my parents won't mind."
Itachi felt a little bad leaving Sasuke pouting, but the sight of the familiar figure standing at the usual spot by the river chased his brother's unhappiness from his mind.
Itachi's hand closed onto the letter in his pocket and he hurried toward Shisui.
I apologise for the lack of crack. Could take place in the same verse as the Dysfunctional InoIta.
-
Sakura stumbled away, eyes wide in horror, all the things she'd sealed into Itachi's mind now engraved forever into hers. Itachi made no motion to flee, and for a minute they remained staring at one another.
"You- you-"
"Yes," Itachi acknowledged.
He was as distant and impassive as ever in the silence.
Tenten thinks that Lee and her may be the only couple in Konoha who don't mean anything by "we've been sparring" but "we've been sparring".
It leads to many misunderstandings with the rest of their friends until she takes Lee aside to explain. He spends the next two weeks blushing and avoiding his friends' eyes whenever he hears the word.
Gai and anyone:
Kakashi lost the seventy-third contest, mostly because when Naruto 'muttered' about the hickey on Gai's throat, he wasn't expecting Gai to blurt out about the state of their relationship.
Itachi is ill at ease with people's attempts to flirt with him. After the first visit to the manicure the senior Akatsuki members introduced him to, he decides he'll paint his nails himself.
Hinata & Kakashi:
People wear all kinds of masks. Hinata has long known how to see through them, and as Kakashi is (was?) Naruto's sensei, she's paid more attention to him than to others.
Once, during their mission to find Sasuke, she sees him turned toward the indistinct shadowy figure of Naruto and Sakura standing side by side, and she feels a bite in her heart.
(On the other side of the clearing, Kakashi sees her looking at him, straight at him.)
<.< Completely predictable of me, but since no one else has yet: Hinata, Kabuto, the two of them together, and I'll throw Tsunade in for good measure, Jiraiya optional. I miss him. ;-;
She only stops dreaming of failure when they stop expecting her to succeed.
Kabuto:
Out of all the strays Orochimaru acquired over the years, Sasuke is by far Kabuto's favourite.
No, Kabuto doesn't think he's quite done with Leaf yet.
HinaKabu:
The concern in Hinata's stance made him smile, a fleeting, self-deprecating sort of smile, but it was only for a second before she turned to look at the Hokage.
"Of course my clan will keep him, Tsunade-sama; he won't be a bother to the village."
She sounded earnest and reasonable; Tsunade looked at her for a long time before she finally said, "Very well. I'll trust you with him, Hinata, but remember at the first affront I'll have to have him executed, you know that."
Hinata bowed, Tsunade left the interrogation cell without one glance backwards; and Kabuto wanted to laugh, because nothing made sense anymore.
Tsunade:
It's funny; since she met Naruto, she's started thinking more about her brother, and many of these memories leave her with a smile on her lips.
Jiraiya: aka: what sentence limit?
"-and you're fighting Aburame on your second match, Jiraiya. Well, that shouldn't be too hard," Tsunade remarked.
A heavy silence ensued.
Tsunade frowned and looked away from the scroll on which the matches were announced, only to find a greenish Jiraiya apparently frozen mid 'Do. Not. Want.' expression. "Jiraiya? What's the matter?"
Jiraiya's mouth opened and closed once, twice, before he abruptly got a grip on himself. Or attempted to. "N-nothing! - Hahaha, it's nothing!"
Tsunade narrowed her eyes. "Jiraiya..." she started menacingly. "If there's a reason you're going to lose that match..."
He was shaking his head, waving his hands in front of him, and was about to start talking, when -
"He's scared of bugs," Orochimaru said, in a tone that fell just short of perfect indifference. "What to do you think the toads are for?"
No I wasn't expecting that. D< I'm sorry for doing that to your prompt, because that could be such an interesting threesome, and I'm just making a huge ugly mess of it. T_T
I can try again, if you'd like, because it's SO BAD.
preTsunaKabuHina: more of the 'sentence limit wut'.
They take turns healing and breaking him, and somewhere in the middle of it all Kabuto bites onto something he wasn't expecting: he's at the end of his game.
He still has a whole lifetime of script to unroll in front of them, but it won't work, because as long as he does, he's doing typical Kabuto, and one thing he knows is that they'll trust nothing out of that mouth - not unless it's extracted from beneath his figernails, not unless there's a chorus of irregular heartbeats spelling his words. They want to shatter the mask, but Kabuto thinks there's nothing under, and hasn't been for a very long time.
He can't even choose to drop it, the way his script is indicating he'll be willing to three days from now.
They've given him something to prevent his regenarative abilities to work, or something like that; it's not a shock that the greatest medic-nin of the history of the Five Countries achieved it, and Kabuto is trained to resist pain, but it's still painful. Very painful.
Also, worthless.
Kabuto doesn't have anything to hide anymore, and he's quickly losing the game anyway, so he sheds the rules that have been regulating his life for so long.
"I don't know what you want to know," he says frankly, "but I'm willing to share my research if you'll stop torturing me."
Tsunade lets out a sigh. "Kabuto," she starts.
"Really, Hokage-sama, I'm in a lot of pain here."
Behind the Hokage, Hyuuga Hinata smiles very faintly.
He smiles back for no other reason than because he wants to.
KabuHinaNeji:
"Kabuto, stop goading Neji quite so much," Hinata said absently, without looking up from her scroll. "Or next time, please avoid doing it outside of Father's office."
No I wasn't expecting that. D< I'm sorry for doing that to your prompt, because that could be such an interesting threesome, and I'm just making a huge ugly mess of it. T_T
Interesting, yes, but so HARD. I've been tentatively nibbling around the edges of it for a while, but nothing's really shaping itself, and I have a feeling that if I ever do anything with it, it would have to be as a AU. One where Tsunade is actually the age she presents herself as, because Kabuto likes it better that way. *eyeroll*
I can try again, if you'd like, because it's SO BAD.
NO IT'S NOT, STOP LYING TO YOURSELF. >/
Though, Tsunade wasn't so present in this and it ended up more Kabuto-centric, less threesome-ish, BUT I FORGIVE YOU.
"He's never going to look at you anyway," Sasuke finally snaps.
"I know," Hinata says. "But he's never going to look at you either; not now that you're back."
And for a minute Sasuke glares at her from his hospital bed, and the ghost of a smile touches Hinata's lips, and Sasuke brusquely looks away.
He's blushing.
ItaSaku: I hate you
There's no reason to heal him, except that he'll be able to tell them where Sasuke has gone to, and why he's apparently vaished without even making sure his brother really was dead.
There's no reason to speak to him, except that otherwise you won't get those informations.
There's no reason to hit him, except that it's Sasuke he's dismissing as unimportant and you've been very clear for years that you're never going to condone anyone talking about Sasuke that way - least of all his own brother.
There's no reason to smile triumphantly when he looks at you as though you're crazy, except that ha, take that Itachi.
There's no reason at all to bring down roughly your lips to his, except that you want to.
Ooh, I love them, especially the SasuHina. I kind of like both timid and strong Hinata, but I don't usually see the strong Hinata except in your NejiHina writings, and it's interesting to see that dynamic in SasuHina. I like it ^_^

TsunaKabuHina.
Wow, these are all beautiful and made entirely of win, thank you so much! :D
Hinata: ;-; *squishes Hinata* I'll bet the idea still weighs on her pretty heavily regardless. ;-;
Kabuto: No, he wouldn't be, because why cut himself off from such an interesting place?
HinaKabu: Ah, now the mindfuckery's coming from a place other than you, eh, Kabukins? :DDD
and what will she do with him once she gets him home, hmmm.Tsunade: It's because Naruto and Nawaki are sekritly clones of each other. You know it's true. Oh Kishimoto, you and your heavy-handed symbolism...
Jiraiya: ERO-SENNIN I LOVE U, NEVER CHANGE AND KNOW THAT I WOULD TOTALLY DO YOU (AND GAI) IN A HEARTBEAT IF YOU WERE REAL, LOVE AMAIKO.
