Silly silly me
Dec. 1st, 2011 11:09 amSilly thing I know better than to fall for (and yet I do everytime): find a new obsessi/fandom shortly before a deadline. I told myself, oh but it's books, it's harder to go compulsive in a short time on books. Plus, I'll be reasonable; I won't offer it for Yuletide, it's not like I have any hopes of reading though and absorbing and getting a grip on the material in that short a time. As a consequence my attention is torn between Yuletide and New Shiny Thing.
I've kept thinking about Gotham's Whole (when my writing schedule is a bit clearer, maybe...), and I've come to the conclusion that Kate and Renée might be from Barrayar.
Renée: "This isn't Beta, Captain Sawyer."
Kate: because if there is one character who knows about honor, it's Kate. There are also parallels and differences between Aral and Kate that make me want to write them in the same room (and it is such a crying shame for ficcing purposes that women can't be soldiers on Barrayar), mostly with regards to their childhood traumas, their relationship with their fathers, and their stance on their sexuality.
I also want, very badly, the fic where Illyan has inforgasms about Oracle. Or ImpSec attempts to recruit/infiltrate Oracle. From either PoV; I think it would be delightful.
