mariagoner has the best memes. Dammit, I'm not supposed to do one meme a week.

Name a character/pair of characters and I'll try to tell you at least one fact about their sexual preferences and practices.

About the 'pair'. *points* If you ask for one please please please request one you know I can see/have written/have somewhat hinted at/have Opinions about (be it positive or negative). (by which I mostly mean: don't ask KakaSasu.) Anything from NejiHina to the Kiba->Saku one-line impliedness is alright. Of course, YMMV on what is an implied pairing in what I write. :3

Ino/Shika from manga... do you have any opinion on the two of them?

ShikaIno is one of my least favourite Ino pairings, and the only reason I can see it in the manga at all is because I think Ino is the hottest thing since sliced bread and could have chemistry with Itachi if given enough panel time.

At one point I absolutely loathed the pairing - not because of the pairing actually, but because of the way fans were apparently seeing it as hinted/viable in canon, to which I wondered whether they'd been reading the same chapters I was, because I think that TemaShika canon hints have been dropped on us like big anvils of teenage romance, whereas no matter how hard I look, I can't see one moment that could be construed as ShikaIno having more than platonic feelings in nature.

Now, while it's far from being a favourite of mine, I can perfectly well imagine them growing up and falling in love in a few years, because who doesn't change over that time? And they're teammates, coworkers, friends, they could have hilarious interactions. So I guess I see the attraction. But I really, really can't see it as plausible in the current manga.

There are two fics that helped change my view from 'OMG I hate that ship' to 'OMG I hate the way the ship is taken for granted' and 'if this-or-that changes, why ever not?'; ceresi's Stolen (http://community.livejournal.com/in_my_notebook/3899.html#cutid1), which is NaruSasu KakaSaku with a side-ship of ShikaIno, reimars' Vurt Ninjas (http://rayemars.livejournal.com/159129.html), which is cyberpunk AU NaruSakuSasu with a sideship of InoShika. I guess you could also add ronsard's I Love The Sound Of You Walking Away (http://ronsard.livejournal.com/7783.html#cutid1) and saturnoolaa's Stranger Than Fiction (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/1797283/1/), except that neither even feature straightforward ShikaIno, because Ino shags over half of Konoha in the first and Shikamaru happens to be one of that number, and in the second, though they're in a ragged-around-the-edges relationship, she's in love wit Sakura. But still, they helped make InoShika something I can at least stomach in some context.

One thing that these four fics have in common, though? No Temari. XD ShikaTema hits a lot of my pairing-kinks, and I fell in love with it when I read the manga for the first time. So canon ShikaIno would get a big no-no from me. But again, ten years in the future, or whatever? Why not.

Now, on the question of Shikamaru and Ino having sex - which is an entirely different topic from them being a couple - well, I can't really see that happen because they're already friends, or something like it, and I don't think they'd want to try and deal with reconciling 1)casual sex, 2)friendship, 3)teamwork, and more especially Chouji (it doesn't help that I like InoChou, too, and I find InoShikaChou, platonic or not, generally much more believable than just ShikaIno).

BUT on the off chance that would have sex, I can safely say that Ino would top. InoShika indeed. Besides Shika would be used to it, what with Temari, and can you tell I'm having trouble keeping interferences out of the pairing? ...Maybe it'd be a one-time thing and they were drunk and oh god I fail so bad at this.
