Chapter 6 (that means the second one in posting order, just so you know) is where I stopped reading The Pranskter's Guide... because it had Andromeda as a Ravenclaw. *stabz*

I need to stop hitting the back button over such a little thing when she's got absolutely nothing to do with the story.

(I know I won't. My Andromeda is a Slytherin is a Slytherin is a Slytherin.)

Thanks. Sometimes I feel like I'm the only Andromeda-fan who doesn't see her as a Ravenclaw. *is weary*

I do the exact same thing. I'll try to hold out as long as I can but eventually I just. Can't. Take it.

Then you're stronger than I am. The only fic I can think that I actually liked (and finished reading) with Ravenclaw!Andromeda is "The Singer, Not The Song".

I'm under the impression that Ravenclaw!Andromeda (and Hufflepuff!Ted) is the easy way out; she's mostly found in fics that do not focus on her, but just wave her around as the token "Sirius' favourite cousin".

That's exactly it. The easy way out. The sad truth is that most fanfic writers would rather take that easy way than try to actually develop the character believably. If Andromeda is a Ravenclaw, then they don't have to face the fact that not all Slytherin are evil. They can just go in with that "favourite cousin" concept and not have to actually show what makes her the favourite.

Certainly. It's just so much simpler to say Andromeda and Sirius were born good, and tolerant, and Muggle-friendly, and had sworn they'd never-never go to Slytherin, rather than actually admitting nurture can have kind of an influence. (*throws WannabeGryffindor!Sirius in with Ravenclaw!Andromeda*)

Besides, Ravenclaw!Andromeda is such a nice, mild, and timid, lacking-a-backbone girl I can't understand anyone didn't kill her out of sheer frustration. (I know, I know, sweeping generalisations are nor politically correct. But they're such a relief.)

Btw, did you read Nineveh's fics, at fictionalley.org? She develops very interesting characters. (One thing I like about her Andromeda is 'who said Sirius' favourite cousin was the nice one?)
