Top five worst fictional mothers.
Jun. 18th, 2011 04:06 amI'm missing out on such a lot of great horrible mothers due to my not knowing the canon. Even I know that Mystique and Cersei Lannister and Sonia from FE7 are considered terrible mothers, but I don't know them well enough.
I'm unhappy to say that all the mothers on this list are mothers of sons. I considered Mother Gothel and Precia Testarossa, but Tangled is too fresh on my mind for me to be sure Mother Gothel will pass the test of time for me, and I don't actually remember much about Precia Testarossa beyond HORROR.
1. Sheila (Jason's mom) (DC Comics)
...let the Joker beat her fifteen-year-old son to death in front of her as she coldly lit a cigarette. That is all.
2. Zelos' mother (Tales of Symphonia)
"I wish that you'd never been born," she said to her ten-year-old son as she lay dying in the snow after she'd taken the bullet or whatever meant for him. Those were her last words to him.
3. Mme Lepic (Jules Renard's Carrot Top)
XIXth century, the countryside. The hero is his mother's least favourite child and a red-head, and Mme Lepic is incredibly cruel and petty. That includes: making the child go close the outside door even though she knows he's scared of the dark, and when he comes back telling him he'll close the door every night; claiming that he doesn't like melons so as not to give him a slice every time the family eats some (he loves melons); when he gets lice, putting the bowl on top of which all the insects are floating outside by the door, so people walking by will know he has lice; putting the sheet he's wet during the night at the window, so the neighbours will laugh at him; and so on, and so on.
MME LEPIC IS A NIGHTMARE.
4. Ritsuka's mom (Loveless)
She loves her son. She does. But her son was replaced by "an impostor" and now she has to punish the impostor and trick him into revealing he's not her son. Auuuuuuugh.
5. Zira (the Lion King 2)
Despite the fact that they have scarring, emotional abuse, and playing favourites in common, Zira and Ozai really aren't that alike.
Bonus: Little Thumbling's mother (French tale)
"Oh, dear wife, we're too poor to feed our children, and ourselves! We're all going to perish! What can we possibly do?"
"LOSE THE KIDS IN THE FOREST."

If you remember The Horror, you remember accurately.
Nothing Fate did was ever good enough for her, and that resulted in literal wippings. She was enraged at Fate being what Precia made her, basically.
