Reboot rejects anthem song (for Cass and Steph)

I have this thing about the Sounds' songs. I associate a ridiculous number of them with Batfamily members and ships and identities, I think I could make a fanmix just with songs with the Sounds.

But I was listening to The Best of Me and I started thinking that it was an awesome Steph+Cass song about the Reboot.

I've written Steph and Cass and Shiva, and Rose and Kiran, and I really need to find the time to write the Jason and Roy and Kory and Grace and Anissa fic, plus some others for Steph and Cass. Oh, and Renee.

I need more hours in the day. And also to finish one thing before I start another. @_@

I'm a little relieved in that at least Gail Simone has promised that if nobody else uses Cass and Steph, she'll find a place for them in Batgirl.

Still pissed off in general, but...

It's better than being erased, that's for certain. And I know she'll mean to treat the characters respectfully.

otoh, I hatehatehate her characterisation, and I am still TERRIFIED at the thought of that old interview of hers, where she explained that her idea for Cass was to have her find faith and become "the Angel of the Bat".

And you never know with DC. She might want to use them and be prevented. "Oh, no, someone else has ~*big plans*~ for them, so you can't use them..."

Yeah, her plans for Cass did strike me as... very bizarre.

Sigh. I'm not planning to buy any of these new DC titles, not out of any point of principle, but just because... they don't interest me. I haven't looked at the whole list, admittedly, but I love these characters because of their long, complex pasts and their interaction with large established casts. They are getting rid of the biggest factor that keeps me reading DC titles other than Red Robin and Batgirl.

Actually, I'd be interested in some of these titles, if I didn't think they were just going to fuck everything up by not caring. Red Hood, Batwoman, Blue Beetle at the very least.

For me at least, in very few of these cases am I interested in the basic concept -- I'm invested in the specific character, their past, their surroundings... while I'm sure some of these will be presented in an interesting way, and I would no doubt enjoy them if I read them, rebooting and overwriting previous continuity kills my sense of connection to even my favorites. I may pick them up after awhile if I hear good things, but I see no reason to spend money on issue #1 of any of them.

So do I, but I never know how to write them together or what about. D: I'm always intimidated by the perspective of writing Babs with the two of them, I don't know why.
