DC Reboot

I can't even begin to tell you how angry I am. I can't even begin to write the big rant that I know is coming, which is about how Didio and his pals have been throwing crossovers and big events at us for years now, and now they realize their comics are a mess, and their bright idea to clean it is to erase everything. As if the mess wasn't their fault in the first place.

What I can tell you, however, is this: in light of the choices that have been made with regards to various characters, if Cass is no longer around, I won't follow.

I adore Jason, and Bruce is my Favourite Character of all times, but if Cass doesn't exist anymore it's just not worth it. I still have plenty of early-2000s stuff to pick up, anyway, and that way maybe I'll be able to get into Marvel.

All the boys have been accounted for (Well, I haven't heard anything about Tim, but no panicking from fans either so I assume no news is good news) but Stephanie and Cassandra are still MIA, and that's pathetic. Dammit, DC.

I don't think anyone's heard anything about Tim, but please. Like they'd do away with him.

But we haven't heard anything about Cass, or Steph, (or Helena, or Renée). I'm hoping they're milking it for all it's worth.

But honestly? I've got my doubts about Cass making the cut.

But CLEARLY, DC is moving into an era of more diversity in its characters.

I dunno how safe Tim is, actually. I've heard Morrison has planned to off someone in Batman Inc. We haven't heard about Tim, so. :/ Dunno.

Also, I'd say yay Marvel, but they just killed off Bucky, so I dunno what to think about them right now either...

Really? Huh. I guess it's my dislike for Tim shining through, but I'm not that worried. His own series, leader of several teams... That boy has had a lot of exposure and he's enormously popular. Killing him off would be... really dumb. There's also Cass in Batman Inc. ;_; ohgodcass.

And still better than the dumbfuckery DC is pulling off atm. My God, I'm going to end up reading Punisher.

I need a Tim, a Cass, and a Steph to still exist before I'm sure I'd be willing to buy anything. And their existence isn't even a guarantee. I mean, Mary Jane still exists, but I don't buy Spider-Man any more.

Oh, I get that so much. I'm not worried about Tim, and not so much about Steph either - she'll get downgraded because DC are morons, but she does have the Spoiler identity to fall back on; at worst I suppose we'll see her once every blue moon, like I imagine they're going to do with Huntress. All in all I have good hopes about both of them making it through.

Cass is a dealbreaker, though. I may not follow even if she still exists, too, if I feel like they're straying too far from the iteration of the characters I like (and I gotta say, between Batgirl!Babs and Batgirl!Babs and Bruce seemingly being okay with a gun-totin' Jason wearing the Bat, they sure look like to be heading that way).

How can we be willing to give them money and trust them to write stories we like about characters we care about if they've already proven to us they consider our favourite characters canon fodder? Ultimately it's about trust.

Exactly. I no longer trust Marvel. After this, it will be very, very hard for me to extend any trust to DC.
