Daria measures things up. It's a cook thing. When you start to know your way around a kitchen, you know when 'three eggs' means three eggs, and when the recipe means three big eggs and if the eggs are small you have to add four.
Units she counts her life in:
One sugar. In her expresso.
Two dabs. Of perfume, when she leaves work and she's not anxious to smell like kitchen all the way back.
Pinches. Salt in stiffly beaten eggwhites for the tiramisu.

The problem is, the issues aren't getting away. The problem is, they're not working through the issues; some days, Daria feels like the issues are working through them. The problem is, Daria's never done too well with how imprecise 'some' is, as a cooking measure. Take some flour, her grandmother used to say to explain a recipe. And as anyone will tell you, when you're trying to make something, 'some' is mighty unhelpful. Some flour is one spoonful when you're building a sauce and almost the whole jar when you're making cookies.
