Why is it so often "my father is a powerful wizard" and so rarely "my mother is a powerful witch"? Why is it so widely assumed that Gryffindor was the Headmaster at the time? Why are Quidditch captains and commentators so repetetively male?

The reason Quidditch commentators are male- the females are too smart to be commentators. Have you ever listened to sports commentators? It would be a disgrace for a woman to rank among the stupidity of that lot.

For the record, I always assumed that Rowena Ravenclaw was the Headmistress at tbe time of the Founding, since the school would need someone smart, organised and efficient to get it on its feet.
