They seem to be implying that Jason has a Dark secret and Traumatic event somewhere in his past and that it'd be best for him if he saw a doctor.

Prostitution as backstory in three... two...

If they go the sexual abuse/prostitution as backstory for Jason? I'LL BREAK OUT THE CHAMPAGNE. Or cry myself to sleep, not sure, but the possibility mostly fills me with GLEE, people, honest GLEE.

Selina lived on the streets and she was a prostitute. Mia ran away from home when she was a kid and had to prostitute herself. Steph was very nearly molested.

If Jason could join that line, that'd make me so fucking happy.

Heh. I'm not too worked up over the whole Dark Secret and Traumatic Event either way, except to raise an eyebrow at the astonishing overkill. I mean, really- as if the poor boy wasn't traumatized enough?

At any rate- I'd really like to see that poor boy get to a therapist at some point in canon, so I don't much mind. Plus, I'm far too relieved that BftC #3 wasn't worse to much care about how stupid it actually was.

Agreed on the overkill, but sexual abuse is just one thing that would realistically make a lot of sense given what we know of his backstory already.

I'm not too much of a fan of the implications of what that'd do to Bruce's character - on the one hand he'd have done nothing to get the kid psychological help (how fucked-up would Bruce need to be for that to hold?), on the other it'd free him of much of the responsibility of Jason being majorly fucked-up.

About the therapist-- DC is a world of No Therapists, especially in Gotham, so I wouldn't expect too much on that ground.

INORITE?? I was already cursing Tony Daniel to all hells with my theory that he was going to write Jason as killing Cass - but no! GLEE, I tell you.

Actually, didn't Bruce's hologram thing say something about Alfred knowing a good doctor? It's possible!

... the sad thing is, that little explanation gave me the perfect way to fill in a plot hole in my plans for (far in the future) events in BiAtA. And when BftC starts actually giving me ideas, it's time to worry.

That does astonishingly little to assuage my sense of authorly pride (nor does the fact that I utterly failed to come up with a better word there- blame it on my <5 hours of sleep last night).

It was so damn obvious, too! Though I may or may not actually use it, partially out of the aforementioned pride, partially because it just doesn't seem quite right... donno.

As for the canon-related stuff, though- donno. There's a distinct possibility that a better, non-Daniels author might pick it up in the future, so...

Maybe you saw something like "Daniel's Battle for the Cowl" and you switched it around? I was unsure of whether it was one or the other for a long time, too. (Until I checked how to spell it when I wanted to rant on BftC#2, coughcough.)
