For
shiny_glor_chan. I suspect that my pairing bias may appear, and for that I apologize very very much.
5 times Jason did a good deed without recognition
1.
Garzonas.
The only thing Jason regrets about that is how Batman looked at him afterwards.
2.
That charity ball Jason got drafted to, and there was that kid that looked as if he thought he was transparent, huddled alone with the party all around and who looked about as home as the average attendant of the party would in Crime Alley. Jason didn't belong in that world and so Jason saw him.
The kid was staring at Bruce – who was laughing his charity-ball laugh at the smug-looking socialite they were investigating – and when he looked away he caught Jason's scowl. The kid's eyes widened.
Surprise made him look so funny, big rounded eyes under that crazy mop of hair, it made Jason grin.
3.
During his short stint as a Titan, one of the only times he spent a week-end in NY, he met a girl he'd known from before.
They got a coffee and Jason stuck around long enough to realize that she wasn't short on money, wasn't doing drugs, wasn't hustling on the side, and that she'd skipped town when her father had found out she was a lesbian. She was living with her girlfriend. She didn't let Jason pay for the coffee.
She'd started anew. She was in love and happy.
Jason stayed just long enough to make sure she was okay, and when he got back to Titans Tower the weekly briefing had already started and they were all in Jason's face and Jason got enough of that shit with Bruce, except that Bruce would make him tell him why he was late and Bruce was in Gotham, so Jason lashed right back.
4.
The grave of Bruce's parents is one of these places where he always finds himself going back, again and again, even though he doesn't know why, even though he should never want to come back to the place again, not after he had to dig himself out of the grave just left of Thomas and Martha Wayne's.
Once he finds the grave vandalized – the usual shit you find in defiled cemeteries, and other things as well. Personal attacks.
Jason cleans the headstone.
5.
He never tells Bruce that one day he saw Alfred in front of the portrait of Bruce's parents, looking older than he ever did, muttering that he was sorry he's failed them.

Date: 2009-03-21 06:22 pm (UTC)Loved 2 because I keep thinking the little boy's Tim. Or am I being a little dense and it really is meant to be Tim? It's Tim, isn't it?
Also, 4. Because I love the fact that Jason doesn't care, but does.

Date: 2009-03-21 06:40 pm (UTC)Jason needs to tell himself that he doesn't care, because otherwise he'd break (end of Under the Hood anyone?) but he really, really does. It's only made worse here because it's the grave of someone's parents, and I think Jason's fundamental decency would get him to be furious whether or not it was the grave of Bruce's parents. I expect that he did some detective work later to find the assholes who did that and made them pay for it in blood.

Also: Pile o' Robins: Cutegasm.
