HP-only Five Things Meme

The bad news are that I can't go on holidays, my computer crashed, and the USB devices that miraculously held several dozens of thousand words of written words have been infected by some virus which means that said fics cannot be posted on this computer. I am not having my best fandom summer ever.

But! OTOH, there's been the release of Deathly Hallows.

So here's the deal: ask me for a five-things (or five-ways-that, or five-times-that, or whatever) thingie about HP.

If you ask about Andromeda Black, you get another free! five-things! thingie!

i.

“My mother is going to kill me!”

Lily couldn’t tear her eyes away from the glistening, shattered remains of the vase. She really should have been practising that spell to make things fly on something that couldn’t break…

Next to her, Severus tightened his grip on his brand new wand, pointed it toward the pieces, and grimly uttered, “Reparo!”

ii.

For their first Potions class, Severus breaks from his Housemates, and, wordlessly, sits next to her.

iii.

He listens to her sobs and rant, and uses his scathing words to the best capacity against her ex-as-of-two-hours-ago boyfriend in a way that makes her feel less silly and stupid and naïve as she did before and as she’d have feared he’d make her feel if she’d stopped to think about it, and makes her feel subtly better.

Finally she becomes slowly aware of the warmth of his arm around her and his shoulder against her shoulder as they sink into silence, and – very fleetingly – she wonders…

iv.

After the DADA practical for their NEWTs, she hears about his Patronus. She doesn’t dare take it up to him, of course, but…

She’s grateful that he doesn’t confront her about hers.

(”A bat? Evans’ Patronus is a bat?” Black looked completely stumped as Remus mockingly patted him on the hand.

She smiled feebly. “It’s a small bat. A baby bat,” she tried.

James didn’t look any less shaken.)

v.

Going through her wedding presents, she finds a blank letter, and a photograph. It shows two children of ten, a boy and a girl, absorbed in a conversation and both slightly frowning. It’s a Muggle photograph.

Lily finds herself crying.
