*shuffles feet* It's like this. My brain has been eaten by Tales of Symphonia (superb RPG on Game Cube. Conflicting loyalties and sacrifice and growing up. And great characters), so, hum, now I'm kinda writing fic.

Summary: Seles writes a letter to her brother.

Unsent

Seles was pensively sucking on her quill, frowning at nothing in particular and occasionally glancing out of her window.

So far, she'd only written the first two words of her letter, and she was considering crossing those out.

Dear brother, it began. Now, Seles didn't want Zelos to get any ideas. She badly wanted to accompany him on his journey (even though she was quite obviously more suited to the role of Chosen, and as such he should have been the one agonising about whether or not to accompany her), but she wasn't desperate enough that she'd resolve to hypocritical tactics that were below her and which she was quite unable to perform.

Beside, he wouldn't fall for it.

The quill furiously scratched the original address – the girl bit her upper lip in indecision – then swung across the parchment, drawing the first letter of her brother's name with an eccentric curve, of the sort he'd favoured as a younger boy to sign his own letters, and which she used to try so hard to mimic. Well, Seles amended, maybe he still did sign his letters this way. She just wouldn't know – he didn't write extremely often, now did he? Zelos, it ran wildly on the page, as if he'd written it himself. Mocking her. And he'd think she cared about their childhood memories or something, she had no doubt. He was foolishly sentimental and annoying enough for it.

No way.

She took out another piece of parchment.

It wouldn't do to show how worked up she'd been about a simple letter. Her glare turned ugly. Ha. Simple. As if.

Purposely, she went, Chosen. Then she stopped again. How sordidly solemn. He wouldn't grant a request from just about any girl that'd know of him so little that she'd call him Chosen, right?... Seles grimaced. Right. Any girl but her. That idiot had twisted priorities. As demonstrated by the beyond stupid suicidal crush he had on that big-boobed witch, but why get angry about her when Seles had so many other things to get angry about?

Icily, Seles forced her lips into a smile.

She looked down on her two rough copies. On some places, her quill had almost cut through the heavy parchment. No, she decided. It wasn't the sort of thing she could ask of Zelos.

She'd have to show him.

As if on a whim, she stood up, so abruptly that her chair tipped and threatened to fall for a moment. Without blinking an eye, she picked the pieces of parchment up and, with a steady hand, brought them to the flame of a faltering candle. They burst into fire almost silently; deftly, Seles twisted her hand. The flames reflected more oddly on her liquid eyes; two mirrors of ice taking fire. In a few seconds, they had burnt to ashes, fallen on her desk in charred curls, shrivelled up and so light it looked as if the slightest breeze would scatter them.

Seles blew them away.

Oh wow. This is amazing. Very well done. ♥

I really wish we had of seen more of Seles. Better yet, have her accompany the party. I'm very fond of her, and was kinda sad when Zelos told her that she couldn't travel with them. :(

But yes, I loved this story! (: Adding to memories so that I can re-read it. ^^

Thanks, I'm really glad you liked it!

But yeah, I wish we could have had her in our party too. Not the least because she'd have driven Zelos absolutely nuts. ;) (I like Zelos. I really, really do.)
