The Good Wife opinions
Jan. 14th, 2012 10:29 amFirst off, you need to know that the only thing I knew about TGW before watching was that its main character was Kalinda, who's a bisexual. *amused* As you can see my priorities are in order.
OMG I LOVE IT IT'S AWESOME.
I love the deconstruction of the title, the way it's shown how much justice is personalized, the female characters, Kalinda's clothes, the hilarious and shady Peter gang, the way the children try to protect their mom, Diane and her Republican guy, courtroom badass moments, investigative shenanigans, Cary when he's not being an ass, everyone's concentrated awesomeness especially Alicia's and Kalinda's and Diane. And I also love Stern and how our heroines aren't magically the only women among judges and lawyers and I love Stern and I love Sweeney and I love Julius and practically everything.
There aretwo three characters that I don't like, though. I started out as ambivalent toward Will's boyish good looks, and as the season went on I decided I'm not so much ambivalent as "I don't like him".
And I hatehatehate Jackie. Her going through Zach's things and throwing away the sex-ed leaflet sealed the deal, but then she went on and was more and more loathable. (I really enjoyed that the second half of the season was more Jackie-lite.) Judgemental, racist, hypocritical... I think she's a horrible old woman. Hate. So. Much.
And I also strongly dislike Patty. I did before the first, and the second time cemented that. Bringing your baby as an emotional prop when you're trying to deny treatment to a pregnant woman's fetus = congrats, you're a terrible human being. :)
If someone knows if someone has been writing episode commentaries/reviews on lj/dw, I'd be very grateful.

Date: 2012-01-14 11:08 am (UTC)Can't say I was ever fond of Jackie as a character either, she's very unpleasant, but as far as female characters on this show she's an interesting counterpoint. She embodies a very different kind of power.
LOL Patty. Yeah, she's pretty bad XDDD But I find her funny :D
Sorry I don't think I have any link. Never followed much discussions on the show, sadly.

Date: 2012-01-14 11:20 am (UTC)Ia about Jackie, but she's such a horrible person I'd rather she wasn't there at all. (Not to say that I'm in love with Alicia's treatment of her during the first part of the season either - if you don't want someone to interfere on how you raise your kids, maybe you shouldn't take their help for granted at any time of day or night.) To the point where her antisemitism in the season finale filled me with grim vindication. It's a wonder Peter didn't turn out even worse than he did. At least he seems more open-minded.
I've found that
