You have no idea how many times I've gone into Batman Is Not A Jerk mode at a comics shop. (If I were a Superman fan, I'd be going into Superman Is Not Boring mode as often, I think.) ;)
Fandom is all about the caring, that's what makes it fandom.
At a comics shops? Ooooh, that must be fun (or very unfun, I'm not sure).
Haha, yeah, I bet Superman fans get that a lot.
I think the sort of characters I get defensive about the most are like... the sort of young girls who get bashed a lot, like Sansa Stark, or, well, Magneto. Though the battle is too hard to win for me to bother with Magneto most of the time >_>;.
Thank you! It's kid!Loki, one of the most awesome thing in the Marvel Universe right now; he's very cute.
Yeah, it's one of the reasons I like going there from times to times. So long as I can discuss things, I'm happy! It's harder to get into a vitriolic argument IRL over comics, I think, because people are less likely to be rude to your face. Though situayional offensiveness is still likely to occur, in which case being asertive has worked rather well for me. I always get defensive of characters when someone says something bad about them irl. It's knee-jerk, contradictory instinct.
I suppose it must be the same for Wondy fans. :/ I also do the defending-the-Batfamily-concept argument, and the Jason-was-a-good-Robin bit. (So far, if people holding the opinion that Steph "wasn't a real Robin" have discussed with me, they kept that nauseating piece of bullshit to themselves. Defending the Batfamily as a concept has that effect.)
I think the sort of characters I get defensive about the most are like... the sort of young girls who get bashed a lot, like Sansa Stark, or, well, Magneto. Ouch. From what I've heard about it, the Sansa-bashing reminds me of Sakura-bashing in Naruto. Or Kairi-bashing. Or, oooh, Micaiah-bashing in Fire Emblem. I didn't miss that in DC - well, before the reboot and accusation of Mary Sueness started to be thrown right and left. Though I've started watching Young Justice, and guess what, Miss Martian bashing is, apparently, a thing. She bakes cookies, she must be evil.
Though the battle is too hard to win for me to bother with Magneto most of the time >_>; That's what I do about Bruce most of the time. Like you said, haters gonna hate. It must be worse for Mags, though. *feels for you*
Okay, actually going to go to sleep, now. Thanks for the talk!
