Dear American speakers on my flist,

how would you call the pants Jason is wearing as Red Hood? Is there a special name? What does it look like to you? Am I fretting over nothing and need to to stop proccrastinating and work on getting this fic out if it kills me with a crowbar? (Don't answer that last one, it's a rhetoretical question. I know I can't possibly be fretting too much about not having the appropriate vocabulary.)

What's this thing, and more to the point, how is it called?

They superficially look like riding pants, but the lower picture implies they have pockets, which is confusing, to say the least.

I think they're just tighter fitting slacks, or something. Not jeans, because you don't bend like that in jeans.

Why can't he wear proper 'hi dad i'm rebelling' clothes. I swear when he's strutting to Black Mask over the Kryptonite he's wearing leather.

I'm actually also spazzing because the fic involves Matches and I have no idea how to write Matches and the deadline is approaching and I am stressing out. ;_;

Um, matches...just be as greasy as possible, I think. If it makes you shudder, it's probably just right.

Okay, consulting my UtH notes:

Stealing the Kryptonite: Dark blue (Black, possibly Kry reflection) Jacket with a small collar (possibly leather), grey gloves (not gauntlets, they rip too easily for that), jeans, black calf high boots with straps (velcro?) and a lift at the bottom for extra grip.

Bombing vehicles: Puffer jacket, large collar, tight pants.

Fight with Onyx: Black leather jacket with poloneck collar, lace up black boots (no lifts), grey hemline trousers with a grey belt. (inconsistancy -- he's wearing the shoes with the straps and lifts in the fight with bruce at the end)

I'm not sure how much that helps but it's what I had noted.

It's not as if it's actually all that important - I'm going to go "oh, it happens after UtH *handwaces*" but I got paralyzed on that detail (which yes, did keep me from writing even one single word in terror, so it's nice to see the mental blocks doing their job) and... yeah. Would you believe that I only noticed the boots inconsistency looking at the images in this post?

Would you believe I had to read it 5 times to notice and really study the art to do so? XD I would be the same way. One detail can throw me right off.

I make a lot of notes on these kinds of things. I'm currently playing Jason so I like knowing little things about him. I'm also about to embark on one heck of an AU fic which is taking a lot of prep, so what I was mostly noting was things like fighting styles (for instance, for guns, Jason favours his left more but for trickier like say knives or bombs, he prefers the right and actually uses his right side a heck of a lot more than his left when fighting), notes on character interaction, clothes, vocabulary, everything down to the way the walk I like to make note on to get it as IC as possible.

...I should do this. Actually no, I should be writing, but someday I'll do this. Mostly I've been noticing Jason's tendency to lean back against convenient door frames/walls/trunks/cars with his arms crossed and his hips half-swaying.

He talks with his hands, points a lot, is very physical in his presence and rarely fights using both his hands and his feet, it's usually one or the other. His hair also rarely moves or reacts to water, so I'm guessing he uses product. Those are just a few things I noted when going through.

Not that I'm obsessive or anything >.>

I'm a little wary of the fact that we may be seeing too much into these things, though. How much is the character and how much is the writer/artist not overthinking the way we are? For instance, IIRC, Winick's Jason is a lot more acrobatic than the Jason in Countdown. (I have no issue with it, I think it's a wonderful character note - because the acrobat was always Dick, and so it's interesting that Jason chose to push into that direction as well.)

Hey, I always just thought they were jeans. I still think they're jeans. Jeans can have creases like that, stylistically... >>;; I go with jeans, because hell, why would Jason care one way or another? I think he's just being comfy. <3
