It's not often that Sakura lies to herself (especially to quite that extent), due to being her team's realist by default. I haven't made up my mind how much she was trying to convince herself and how much she was coming up with reasonable-sounding excuses for when she'd be asked to justify her plan. I don't know how honestly she thought she might be able to kill Sasuke. (I chose to think Sakura volunteered to kill Sasuke partly because she knows she's the only one who wouldn't kill him.)
