I'm doing it even though I know it makes me exceedingly queasy. Because my anti-ship is a big, big squick of mine.

Harry/Hermione: they're friends. We know they like each other. They were both raised in the Muggle world, so they must have common references, and certain expectations of what is or isn't good or normal. I don't see either of them joining Voldemort any time soon. Hermione likes Quidditch a lot more than she's usually credited. Harry has a brain though he tends to forget how it works from time to time. The two of them, they have past history, they've been close for five years now.

I can't do much better if I don't resort to clichés or snark. I'm sorry.
